I believe that this semester was where I made my biggest improvements as an Art student. Though I didn't necessarily always make work that I thought would be my best or as I had imagined it, I did realize a lot more about my strengths and weaknesses as an artist, which is going to help me a lot. I came in thinking that oil/acrylic painting was the only thing I was somewhat-okay at and that it was the only thing I liked. Then, after doing just a few projects, I branched out to doing a different medium for almost every single piece! I used to hate watercolor, and using pen, and then I did my nature turns mechanical piece using both and it's one of my favorite projects I've ever done! I love how I grew and branched out because my personality type is one that doesn't really embrace change or want it as much as others, though I am so glad I did it.
This semester has been a great experience for me and has helped me really prepare for doing art without an instructor as well. I have had a lot of good advice on ideas for projects, composition, and overall bettering my art from not just my teacher but from classmates who are trying to get better at the same stuff I am. I have learned how to not only notice what can be better but how to apply it to my art which will help my art skills continue to grow outside of this class. Overall, I would say this was the best Art class I have taken for not only my art but for figuring out more about my personality, strengths, and weaknesses, which is super important to me for starting college next year and having my whole life ahead of me!
