1. This by far is my favorite project I have ever done. I am not known for realism and precision but I definitely accomplished it here, while also doing my FIRST prisma project. Normally I do not feel successful with my first project of any media, but prisma felt really good for me to use and I enjoyed the process, making my work turn out well.
2. My most challenging assigment was figure drawing, ironically, for the exact same reason that my prisma drawing was most successful, realism. It was quite hard for me to work with figure drawing because I felt the need to be precise and realistic with everything, especially when there are two identical parts of the body I needed to draw. It was hard to bring in my style of art in a way I enjoyed, making myself critique the work I did much harsher, and ultimately, unhappy with my results in the work I did. Through this, I learned more about how to try to create abstract figures, or just to try and leave out figures in my pieces if possible, since it is definitely not my forte.
3. I enjoyed being able to grow in different, specific areas of art and being forced to work with different media types I had never used before. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about new things like prisma colors and oil paints. I didn't like how we often were forced to work on a specific topic, and wished the projects were more open ended like they were towards the end of the semester where we could create art of whatever we wanted, because I feel like that's when I create my best work. On the other hand though, I dont believe that I would have grown as much without sometimes being forced to do what Ms. Purtee wanted. Overall, this was the most I have improved on my art skills within a semester and that was thanks to the different experiences I got to have with new materials and ways to form ideas.
