Printmaking Project
In this project II took the Great Wall of china as my inspiration. I looked at images online for my drawing inspiration. Then, I created a more up close image, showing off the bricks and to show more detail of the actual wall. I also added mountains helping show the geography of the walls location. I changed the color of the wall to be red and yellow because I wanted to make it more interesting than just a boring brown and green landscape area.
In this project I learned how to use ink. I never have used ink before, but it's a lot like painting which I like. Also I learned how to cut lanolium and use tracing paper to transfer my image. The lanolium is a bit weird to work with. I didn't like it at first but towards the end I enjoyed it. It's odd to not see your image clearly as you go through on your piece of lanolium, but it appears on the print you are making which I found cool.
After each print I would step back and check my print to see how it looked to me. When I looked I would see if it was alligned right and whether I would need to align the lanolium with the paper better on my next print. I also would see whether there were areas that needed more ink to make sure on the next one I would have a better image. This is why my later prints in the series always seemed to look better. I considered which colors to use first to help them from showing the overlapping of the colors and make colors brighter. I also considered which areas needed to be cut before cutting them.
