In this project I used my own ideas on how I chose something nobody has done for this project in your class. I noticed all these common ones that everybody was doing and I decided to do something different and not just a simple dessert. I used paneras common breadbowl soups since I love to eat them and decided to try and recreate one. I changed the type of soup and the top of the bread bowl by adding bits of scrap bread to create a texture on the top I took off.
I had never worked with clay before until this project. To be honest I did not like it at all but I did learn techniques like pinch pot when making the bowl, adding holes and hollowing, and the use of coffee to create texture. I learned how to use the tools in the bucket like the sponge to allow a more watery type of clay when I needed. Also I learned how to slip and score to attatched parts of clay to one another.
Durring the project I stepped back a few times to look at it. When I first finished my pinch pot I did not like it at all so I redid the whole thing. The second time I thought it was better and moved on. Next I stepped back before firing to decide whether it was ready or not. And lastly I stepped back after it was fired to see which colors would look best. I think when I added paint that was where I needed to fix my project. I should have added the shine coat over it and created a better bread color for my piece. I worked on different colors on my pallot to try and find the best shades for the noodles and carrots until I found the right color.
